Social Media Addiction

SOCIAL MEDIA COCAINE BULLET

Created for “Being Liked” an art show about the dangers of social media addiction: This machine, styled to look like an oversize piece of cocaine paraphernalia, would reward users that posted the show’s hashtag “#beingliked” to Instagram with a handful of white M&M candies that had “Like” printed on them. Cocaine, chocolate, and the notification of receiving likes on social media all release dopamine in the brain, a pleasure chemical that creates positive feedback and gives rise to addiction.
